Acne vs Pimple
When it comes to hormones, there are many supplements and other medicines which people use or take in order to achieve. Though we all have natural occurring hormones in our body, there are times that we need additional supply of these, and sometimes people love the idea or the results of the abundance of the certain hormone in their body. Hormones are somewhat produced by the endocrine glands. We have different kinds of hormones in our body and these hormones have their all specifications but basically, hormones take effect on the different activities. They serve as the controls, messengers and somewhat the coordinators of the activities we are doing.
If we are talking about hormones, steroids will always be part of it. Steroids are man-made versions of hormones in our body that are produced by the adrenal glands in normal condition. If these steroids are taken in higher dosage than your body can produce normally, it can help to reduce the redness of a certain area and swelling or some inflammation. This is a big help in treating inflammatory conditions such as asthma or eczema.
We have different types of steroids and some steroids can have some side effects. If you are taking steroid medications such as prednisone can cause some “steroid acne”. But before that, what is the difference between acne and pimples?
Basically, acne is the skin condition where it damages skin hair’s follicle and oil glands. So the difference between the acne and a pimple is that the acne is the disease and one of its symptoms is having a pimple. Acne is somehow natural to occur especially when there are hormonal changes such as you are in puberty, pregnancy, and menstrual cycle. If you also have the habit of squeezing or picking your pimple, it can lead to irritating your skin and can eventually cause acne. There are more causes of acne but let’s go back on the steroids.
Prednisone is an effective medication in Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. One side effect of the medication is nausea, vomiting, insomnia, headaches, acne, and many more. There are two types of steroid acne: Acne vulgaris and Malassezia folliculitis. These two types of steroid acne have different conditions but they all start with having pimples.
Steroids are one invention that can help humankind but sometimes we can’t remove the side effects it can bring. The beauty of someone will not define how clear his/her skin is but it will always break down on how good his/her heart is.
